About Clinic (Land) Therapy
Although aquatic therapy is one area where we specialize, it is in OUR CLINIC where the healing process begins. This starts with a detailed and extremely thorough evaluation to determine the exact location, extent of involvement, and potential treatment necessary to allow you to immediately feel better. Our one-on-one approach, combined with empathy and compassion, empowers you to feel like a person rather than a patient. We believe our clinic atmosphere creates more of an experience, instead of a mere treatment session.
Utilizing some of the most advanced therapeutic devices and equipment in the field, we are excited and confident in our ability to treat a wide range of conditions and physical ailments. So, if you are one of those people who think of therapy as mere exercise, or have had a negative experience in the past, then we first apologize for that, but invite you into our care….where you will be challenged, have fun, yet most importantly…..GET RESULTS!!!

Methods of Clinical Treatment
Rehabilitation ExercisesDuring your rehab, we may use targeted exercises in order to affect tissue changes in your body. Your physical therapist will closely monitor your issue directly to correct deviations in movement and to improve strength and flexibility. Repetitions, direction of motion, and the type of resistance may vary according to your needs and what activities are restricted. When stretching, your physical therapist may change the duration and angle of the stretch to allow for effective lengthening of the shortened tissues.

Neuromuscular Re-EducationWhen a muscle does not function properly, often it is seen as an underlying condition like rotator cuff tendonitis or a lower back spasm. In these cases, we have to ‘teach’ the muscle how to remember its function. This is done by breaking down the movement pattern into simple components until they are proficient, then reintegrating them back into effective motion. Coordination drills and balance exercises are a major part of this method of treatment. Neuromuscular techniques using a muscular contraction to facilitate reflexive inhibition and reduce resistance to motion.

Manual TherapyThe most common type of healing, manual therapy, includes a wide range of treatment techniques where the therapist uses their hands. For example, increasing the mobility of the spine with targeted and directed force, or stretching tightened ligaments in a joint, manual therapy is one of the most versatile and effective means to improve a patient's health. By creating external forces upon the joint, bone, and muscle structures, your therapist can improve your condition in ways that exercise or stretching may not.

Gait & Movement RetrainingExamining how a person moves gives clues as to what may be the cause of injury. Usually finding restricted motion, weakness, or alignment issues during normal activity. How a person walks, bends, lifts, and twists can show actionable insight and thus determining an effective plan of care. We then isolate the faulty structures, retrain them in a functional manner, and then reintegrate the motion back to normal as possible.

Postural & Ergonomic AssessmentMost people are unaware of their own postural and ergonomic problems. During your initial evaluation, specific recommendations will be made according to your body's alignment. Bringing in pictures of your work setup can allow us to make very specific, and often highly effective, suggestions to improve your ergonomics. We may be able to provide your employer with workspace equipment recommendations.
